Fleet Fuel Card Providers

Fleet fuel cards give you access to discounted fuel at thousands of locations across North America. Instead of paying pump price, you use the card and receive a discount—either a fixed amount per gallon or a percentage rebate on your total spend. Fuel cards also track your fuel purchases automatically, which feeds into IFTA tax reporting.

How Fuel Discounts Work

Fuel cards use two main discount structures:

  • Fixed-price discount: A set amount off per gallon (e.g., $0.40 off). This amount doesn’t change based on fuel price volatility. During periods of high fuel price volatility, fixed-price discounts often outperform percentage rebates because the discount stays fixed regardless of market swings.
  • Percentage rebate: A percentage of total fuel spend returned to you. This can fluctuate as fuel prices change, since the rebate is calculated on a percentage of what you actually paid.

Neither structure is universally “better”—the advantage depends on market conditions and your hauling patterns.

TCS

TCS provides a documented average fuel savings of approximately 51¢ per gallon at in-network locations (Q1 2026 data). This is among the most sourced, provider-specific savings figures available in recent fleet fuel card research.

Bobtail

Bobtail offers a Fleet Mastercard® with no monthly fees, no transaction fees, and no setup fees. The card is accepted at over 1,000 fueling locations including TA, Petro, TA Express, Speedway, and Casey’s. Bobtail states an average fuel savings of approximately 59¢ per gallon and offers up to $3.00 per gallon in discount (this company-stated savings figure requires independent cross-check before being treated as independently verified fact). The card includes automated IFTA reporting and offers approval in approximately 5 minutes. Bobtail also offers invoice factoring (see the Factoring page for details).

RTS

RTS’s fuel card is accepted at 4,000+ truck-stop locations nationwide and offers unspecified “Diesel Discounts.” RTS’s site does not publish specific per-gallon savings figures, network coverage details beyond that count, or card fees — confirm current terms directly.

EFS (WEX)

The EFS Fuel Card, a WEX Inc. product, is accepted at 16,000+ truck-stop locations across North America. WEX’s related Fleet One EDGE card advertises discounts averaging 15¢/gallon (up to that maximum) with no fuel transaction fees at 4,000+ in-network sites (Pilot Flying J, TA/Petro/TA Express, AMBEST, Circle K, Quick Fuel, Petroleum Wholesale, and others); fueling outside that network earns roughly 1¢–3¢/gallon. WEX cards more broadly are accepted at nearly 95% of U.S. fuel stations. Confirm current network and discount terms directly, since EFS and other WEX-family cards (Fleet One, WEX proper) have overlapping but not identical networks.

Comdata

Comdata’s network covers 8,000+ truck stops directly and 160,000+ retail fuel locations (plus 400,000+ maintenance locations) through its Mastercard program. Discounts scale with fleet size and program tier: small fleets (1–20 trucks) get up to 25¢/gallon off at TA/Petro and up to 8¢ at Pilot and Love’s; larger programs reach up to 40¢ at TA/Petro and up to 10¢ at Pilot plus 4,000+ additional stations; the top tier reaches up to 50¢ at TA, 20¢ at Pilot, 10¢ at independents, and 8¢ at Love’s. Comdata advertises $0 truck-stop fee and $0 monthly account fee on certain card types, plus real-time fraud monitoring, the Comchek instant driver-payment system, CAT Scale automated payment, and fleet spend analytics (FleetAdvance/OneLook). Comdata’s public site does not explicitly describe IFTA reporting features — confirm directly.
