Check yourself before FMCSA does
Built to give you an honest answer, not a sales pitch. Three of the four need no account; everything runs in your browser.
Four tools covering the questions carriers most often need answered precisely: which documents are required, which deadlines apply, and which parts of an operation would not withstand an audit.
What each tool does
- DQF Checklist — Works through the driver qualification file against the documents required by 49 CFR §391.51. A reference rather than a test: a file is either complete or it is not. Progress is saved, and the page is formatted to print.
- Compliance Calendar — Calculates recurring deadlines from the carrier's own authority and hire dates. Results export as an .ics file or transfer individually to Google Calendar.
- Audit Readiness Checker — Twelve questions across the categories a DOT audit examines, scored by category. The weak categories matter more than the total; each links to the relevant guide.
- Fleet Health Check — Broader than compliance alone, covering financial health, safety, and growth readiness. This is the one tool requiring an email address.
Handling of answers
The Audit Readiness Checker and Compliance Calendar transmit nothing. Both calculate in the browser and retain nothing once the tab closes. The DQF Checklist stores progress in local browser storage on the device and does not transmit it. The Fleet Health Check submits the email address entered to this site's mailing list; its answers are scored in the browser.
None of the four creates an account or requires payment.
Scope
These are educational aids, not legal or compliance advice. They reflect published regulations, but an auditor examines the operation itself rather than a self-assessment of it. For consequential decisions, confirm against FMCSA's own resources or a qualified professional.
